The Algerian authorities have launched a national tender for the realization of infrastructure works in the new urban pole of Ighzer Ouzarif, in the wilaya of Bejaia. This move is expected to bring relief to thousands of applicants for public housing in the region. The tender concerns the works of viabilization and diverse networks, primary and secondary, for public housing units built in the new urban pole.
A total of 19 companies are expected to be designated to carry out these works, with the opening of bids scheduled for August 18. The project involves the realization of various networks, including water supply, sanitation, fiber optics, electricity, gas, roads, sidewalks, and green spaces. The former Minister of Housing, Urbanism, and City, M. Temmar, had promised to mobilize an envelope of five billion dinars to take charge of the viabilization of 6,250 housing units.
The new urban pole of Ighzer Ouzarif, located 12 km west of Bejaia, is part of a larger project to build 16,000 housing units. The project aims to provide housing for thousands of applicants, with 2,500 units of type AADL and 3,750 units of type LPL. Six companies have already been engaged on the site, and the authorities aim to receive 6,000 housing units for handover to beneficiaries by the 2019/2020 social rent.
The Wali of Bejaia has urged technicians to work quickly and efficiently to meet the objectives. The works will be executed with the help of the Ministries of Hydraulic and Energy, which will provide material and technical contributions. The project aims to provide quality housing and public equipment.
The viabilization of the third tranche of the program, which concerns 9,850 housing units, has been transmitted to the central authorities. The dossier is currently under examination at the Ministry of Housing for its consideration. The authorities aim to deliver at least part of these housing units by the end of the year.
The electrification of the new urban pole has been resolved, with the former Minister of Energy, Mustapha Guitouni, indicating that the pole will be supplied with electricity from a production station in the commune of El Kseur. Additionally, a nearby landfill has been closed by order of the Wali of Bejaia.
The project is expected to be completed with the collaboration of various ministries and authorities. The realization of the infrastructure works is a significant step towards providing housing for thousands of applicants in the region.
