Farid and Z. Mohamed, along with B. Madjid and M. Lamine, was brought to justice after a February 2026 complaint from victim K. R., whose car was stolen from her family's home in Dar El Beïda.
An investigation was launched, and surveillance footage helped track the stolen vehicle's path, locating it in Bordj El Kiffan. The suspects' modus operandi involved targeted break-ins of Hyundai Accent cars. Multiple victims had filed similar complaints, and the gang's activities were systematically uncovered. Z. Farid confessed to carrying out the thefts with his son, who was ordered to steal the victim's car on the day of the incident.
The suspects face charges of forming a criminal association and theft by breaking and entering. This case is part of a broader crackdown on crime in Algiers. The police also took down an armed gang in Ouled Fayet, arrested a group terrorizing Sidi M'hamed, and apprehended a sorcerer in Bouchaoui. They solved a home burglary in Bir Mourad Raïs, recovering jewelry and significant amounts of money. All suspects were referred to the competent judicial authorities.
