The province of Taref in Algeria has taken a significant step towards enhancing its healthcare services with the allocation of 157 new positions. These positions are spread across various categories, including 43 general practitioners, 8 pharmacists for public health, 40 nursing assistants for private schools, 40 service agents, and 26 drivers. The announcement was made by Taref Province's Governor, Mohamed Miziian, during a recent visit to the Bouzid Omar Hospital in El Kala. The governor inspected the hospital's facilities, particularly in the wake of recent rainfall that caused water leaks in some wards. He emphasized the importance of addressing these issues promptly and ensuring that patients receive adequate care.
In addition to the new positions, the healthcare sector in Taref has been bolstered by the recent deployment of over 60 specialists. This is part of a larger effort to upgrade the quality of services and reduce the need for patients to be transferred outside the province for treatment. The governor highlighted the importance of these measures in improving healthcare outcomes for residents.
The healthcare sector in Taref has also seen significant investments in infrastructure and equipment. Recently, 75 semi-medical staff were employed, and 13 ambulances and a refrigeration truck were acquired to serve health centers and treatment rooms in remote areas. Furthermore, equipment for blood filtration and other medical facilities have been provided to public hospitals and health centers across the province.
The province has also made efforts to enhance its healthcare services by setting up a medical monitoring center at the El Ayoun border crossing. This center aims to track the epidemiological situation and provide healthcare to travelers. Additionally, a cancer treatment service has been established at the old hospital, and a diabetes patient house has been set up at the public health center in Taref city.
In a bid to improve healthcare infrastructure, the province has initiated a wide-ranging project to upgrade five multi-service clinics at a cost of 9 billion centimes. This project follows the renovation and establishment of new treatment rooms, aimed at enhancing healthcare coverage, particularly in remote areas and large population centers.
The governor also acknowledged the efforts made by the management and staff of Bouzid Omar Hospital in addressing the water leak issues and providing alternative accommodations for patients. He emphasized the importance of these efforts in ensuring that patients receive quality care despite the challenges faced by the hospital.
