The Algerian government has taken all necessary measures to launch truck assembly at the SOKON Algérie complex in the Batna province. According to Omar Rekkache, Director-General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), the project is on track to commence production in January next year. The complex, located in the Zana El Beida area, is expected to play a significant role in the country's automotive industry.

The SOKON Algérie complex comprises three units for assembling buses and trucks under the Chinese brand SOKON, as well as the development of the HANOU brand. The first truck assembly line is 100% ready, while the other two lines are 55% complete, with a planned annual production capacity of 60,000 vehicles. The project, which represents an investment of 9.8 billion Algerian dinars, is expected to generate 1,800 direct jobs and 4,200 indirect jobs.

A total of 450 workers have been recruited and trained in coordination with the Ministry of Vocational Training and Education to work at the complex. The project is part of the government's policy to support and strengthen investment projects in the country. The AAPI Director-General emphasized the importance of the project in stimulating the dynamics of the subcontracting sector in the region.

Rekkache's visit to the complex aimed to accompany the investor, who has successfully implemented the project in a short period, thanks to the government's support and willingness to facilitate the process. The Director-General praised the public authorities' accompaniment of the project since its launch and highlighted the efforts to provide land for subcontracting projects to increase the integration rate.

The SOKON Algérie complex spans 13.6 hectares, obtained through the investor's digital platform in January 2025, with the possibility of future expansion. The project is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy and contribute to the growth of the automotive industry in Algeria.

Younès Merazka, Manager of the complex, provided Rekkache with explanations of the project's progress and plans for the future. The government is working to prepare other land plots for economic operators in six activity zones in the Batna province.

The launch of the SOKON Algérie complex marks a significant milestone in Algeria's automotive industry, with the country aiming to increase its production capacity and create new job opportunities. The project's success will depend on various factors, including the government's continued support and the investor's ability to meet production targets.
