The electoral campaign for Algeria's municipal and provincial elections officially commenced on November 5, 2026, marking the start of three weeks of political mobilization ahead of the November 28 vote. Several major political parties have announced their campaign strategies, with leaders set to engage with voters across the country. This election will renew the Assemblées populaires communales (APC) and Assemblées de wilaya (APW).

The Rassemblement national démocratique (RND), led by Secretary General Monder Bouden, has chosen to launch its campaign in southern Algeria. The party's program includes meetings and rallies in six wilayas: Timimoune, In Salah, In Guezzam, Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, and Adrar. The RND is participating in the elections with nearly 1,000 candidate lists for municipal and provincial assemblies.

Other major parties have also outlined their campaign plans. The Mouvement de la société pour la paix (MSP), led by Abdelaali Hassani Cherif, will hold its first popular rally in the wilaya of El Oued. The MSP plans to conduct a series of campaign events across several wilayas, focusing on the southern, eastern, and western regions of the country.

The president of Mouvement El Bina, Abdelkader Bengrina, will launch his campaign in the wilaya of Bouira with a public meeting. His party has finalized its organizational and media preparations for the elections. Meanwhile, the Front de libération nationale (FLN) will mobilize its leaders across various wilayas to animate the campaign and support its candidates.

The FLN will focus its campaign on mobilizing voters and promoting programs tailored to the specific needs of each commune and wilaya. In conjunction with the campaign's launch, the Autorité nationale indépendante des élections (ANIE) reminded candidates and parties of the legal and regulatory framework governing electoral activities.

The ANIE emphasized the importance of respecting electoral ethics, including avoiding hate speech, discrimination, and violence. The use of foreign languages in campaign materials and the misuse of state symbols are prohibited. Candidates must also respect the dignity of their opponents and maintain a responsible political discourse.

The campaign will continue until November 24, 2026, and the ANIE has outlined several restrictions on campaign activities, including the prohibition of commercial advertising and the use of public facilities for campaign purposes. Candidates are required to post their campaign materials only in designated areas.
