Algeria's Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellali, has inaugurated 56 road projects and launched 39 others across 24 provinces. The projects, spanning 853.5 kilometers, aim to improve the country's road network. The initiative is part of the national program to develop, modernize, and maintain the national and provincial road network, enhancing connectivity between regions.
The program includes 56 projects to be completed, covering 464.5 kilometers, and 39 new projects to be launched, spanning 389 kilometers. These projects are expected to improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance road safety. The modernization of the highway between Douawda and Bou Ismail, covering 10 kilometers, is one such project that was inaugurated in the province of Tipaza.
The modernized highway between Douawda and Bou Ismail involved the reconstruction of the road with asphalt concrete, construction of a central concrete divider, and expansion of technical facilities. The project also included the construction of rainwater drainage networks and public lighting. Once completed, the project is expected to improve traffic flow along the coastal strip of Tipaza province and reduce travel times between Algiers and Tipaza.
The project will support economic and tourism growth in the region by improving connectivity. The highway, which starts from the Algiers province border, is expected to alleviate traffic pressure, particularly during peak hours and the summer season. Additionally, the project aims to enhance road safety conditions.
During his visit to Tipaza, Minister Djellali also inspected the improvement project of the Bou Ismail-Cherchell highway interchange. The project involves constructing a 1.2-kilometer-long technical facility to enhance the interchange's capacity to handle traffic and improve connectivity to the highway.
Djellali instructed the project teams to accelerate their work to complete the project within the specified timeframe. He also inaugurated the reconstruction project of a technical facility on National Road 11, at kilometer point 34+146, in Douawda municipality.
The minister's visit to Tipaza began with a presentation on the state of the public works and basic infrastructure sector in the province. The presentation included an overview of registered projects, their progress, and future prospects and priorities for developing infrastructure and enhancing the road network and basic facilities.
