The Algerian province of Oran has celebrated the 72nd anniversary of the start of the country's revolution with a significant housing distribution event. A total of 5,197 homes were given to residents across 16 communes in the province. This move is part of the commemorations for November 1, which this year carries the slogan "November... Memory of a Nation and Future of a People."
The official ceremony for handing over the keys to the new homeowners took place at the Abdelhamid Ibn Badis mosque. The event was supervised by Oran's Wali, Ibrahim Ouchan, and attended by local authorities, a representative from the Ministry of Housing, Urbanism, and City, Moussa Abada, as well as many beneficiary families and citizens. The housing distribution includes 2,262 public rental housing units, with 720 of them aimed at resolving precarious housing in the commune of Oran.
The housing distribution also includes other types of housing, such as assisted promotional housing (LPA) and free promotional housing. This variety aims to meet the needs of different social categories. Wali Ibrahim Ouchan emphasized that this event is a significant step in the efforts to improve living conditions for citizens and provide decent housing for beneficiary families.
Ouchan praised the efforts of those involved in the housing sector for realizing these projects and delivering them within record time. He highlighted the work done by the commissions of daïras and the wilaya commission responsible for studying applications, stressing the need for transparency in allocating homes to their rightful beneficiaries.
Moussa Abada, Director-General of the National Urban Planning Agency, announced that over 134,000 homes have been distributed nationwide during national celebrations, including November 1. He mentioned that handing over keys to beneficiaries on historic dates is a tradition upheld by the state and that similar operations will continue in the coming months as projects are completed.
Abada also noted that new residential areas are designed to meet the requirements of a decent living environment, with essential public facilities such as schools, health structures, and basic networks. He discussed the AADL 3 program, stating that initial procedures for beneficiary support have begun in 12 wilayas, with plans to gradually expand to other regions.
In addition to the housing distribution, local authorities marked the 72nd anniversary of the November Revolution with a commemoration ceremony at the Ain El Beïda martyrs' cemetery. The event included laying a wreath, a minute of silence, and reciting the Fatiha in memory of those who sacrificed their lives for Algeria's independence.
