Algeria's Saidal group is strengthening its production of cancer medicines and expanding its treatment offerings, from chemotherapy to immunotherapy. According to Nardjiss Brichni, director of marketing and sales at Saidal, the company prioritizes the availability of medicines and reducing dependence on imports. This effort is crucial for Algeria's healthcare sovereignty. The local production of cancer medicines is a significant challenge for the country's healthcare system.

Saidal already supplies several cancer chemotherapy medications to hospitals, including two references used in different therapeutic protocols. The company's portfolio also includes targeted treatments and immunotherapy medicines, demonstrating a gradual expansion of locally produced therapeutic solutions. Brichni emphasized that the primary goal is to consolidate this offer and adapt it to the needs of the national healthcare system.

The company's product range includes various treatment categories, from chemotherapy to immune therapies. This diversification aligns with the evolution of medical practices, which increasingly require specific treatments based on cancer types and patient characteristics. However, the availability of these medicines depends on regular supplies, as shortages can disrupt therapeutic protocols and compromise patient care.

To address this issue, Saidal focuses on anticipating needs, improving planning, and daily monitoring of the market to ensure continuous deliveries to hospitals. Brichni stated that the company works to anticipate needs and improve coverage of the national market to maintain treatment supplies. The security of medicines begins with raw materials, which are often imported from abroad.

Saidal is working on several projects to manufacture local raw materials for cancer treatments, antibiotics, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases. These investments aim to gradually reduce external dependence and secure supplies. The development of innovative treatments is another priority, with Saidal seeking to strengthen its capabilities in targeted therapies and immunotherapy through partnerships with international laboratories.

The company has concluded agreements with Boehringer Ingelheim and Roche, contributing to industrial cooperation and the development of new production capacities in Algeria. This growth is also based on scientific research, with Saidal planning to restructure its research and development center in Rahmania and strengthen collaborations with Algerian universities.

The goal is to develop national competencies and bring research closer to the concrete needs of the pharmaceutical industry. Brichni assured that the quality of locally produced medicines is a fundamental requirement, meeting Algerian registration standards and equivalent to products manufactured in other countries.
