The extension works of the Alger metro towards Bab El Oued and Baraki are advancing at a sustained rhythm, with several operations of excavation, consolidation and development underway on different sites. According to a statement, the works' pace is set to intensify, particularly on exterior structures, in anticipation of the winter season and potential constraints that may impact the progress of the construction sites.
A recent on-site visit by the General Director of the Alger Metro company, Kherfi Menad, was conducted to monitor the state of progress of the extension works of the network towards Bab El-Oued and Baraki. During the visit, Menad oversaw the progress of operations at various sites, including the Taleb Abderrahmane station, which is part of the extension from the Place des Martyrs station towards Bab El-Oued.
At the Taleb Abderrahmane station, excavation operations are ongoing, alongside the excavation of ventilation shaft number 8. Additionally, soil treatment works are being carried out above the tunnel, in preparation for the launch of tunnel excavation operations. The site has also seen progress in various exterior infrastructures, with preparatory works at the Trois-Horloges and Triolet stations completed, including operations related to network relocation.
The completion of these preparatory works enables the project to move forward with the next phases. According to the statement, it is crucial to accelerate the works' pace on these sites, particularly for exterior structures, as the upcoming winter season may complicate certain operations and impact working conditions. This anticipation aims to maintain the execution rhythm and limit the impact of inclement weather on the construction schedule.
The on-site visit also covered the El Hadika station, part of the extension from Aïn Naâdja to Baraki. Works to implement the station's support system using anchor cables are ongoing. Furthermore, excavation of the connecting tunnel between ventilation shaft number 9 and the main tunnel has been completed. Menad also inspected ventilation shaft number 10 as part of the monitoring of various structures related to this extension.
The visit allowed the Alger Metro Director General to directly assess the progress of various operations and evaluate the works' pace on site. The visit also emphasized the need for permanent coordination between the construction companies, study bureaus and monitoring structures to address technical constraints and avoid delays in executing different phases.
Following the visit, instructions were given to continue the works according to the established schedule, intensify efforts and ensure strict adherence to technical norms and safety requirements. The goal is to maintain the current momentum and enable the continuation of the Alger metro network extension projects, particularly towards Bab El Oued and Baraki, two major axes in the development of collective transport in the capital.
