The 14th University Youth Week, hosted by Minia University, has seen intense competition in various sports disciplines. The event, which brings together students from Egyptian universities, has showcased young talent and reinforced values of fair competition and sportsmanship. Dr. Essam Farhat, President of Minia University, crowned the winners of athletics and table tennis tournaments. The athletics events featured a range of track and field competitions.
In the 100m and 200m sprint events, students from various universities showcased their speed and agility. Ziyad Hilal Hamad from Ain Shams University won the gold medal in the 100m, while Amr Osama Fahmy from the Higher Education Ministry took silver and Youssef Mohamed Ramadan from the Capital University secured bronze. In the 200m, Islam Ahmed Kamal from Alexandria University claimed gold, Ziyad Hilal Hamad won silver, and Omar Mohamed Mahmoud from the Higher Education Ministry took bronze.
The athletics competitions also included javelin throw, discus throw, long jump, and shot put events. Ahmed Bahgat Abdel Basit from Alexandria University won gold in javelin throw, while Alaa El-Sayed Mohamed from Zagazig University secured silver and Youssef Hassan Khalaf from Minia University took bronze. In discus throw, Emad Ashraf from the Capital University won gold, Sief Hazem Abdel Rahman from Beni Suef University took silver, and Loui Saleh Abdel Samie from Mansoura University secured bronze.
The long jump event saw Maykel Maher Morad from Benha University take gold, Mohamed Abu El-Maat from Ain Shams University win silver, and Youssef Essam El-Din from the Capital University claim bronze. In shot put, Mohamed Sharaf Mohamed from Zagazig University secured gold, Mazen Ramadan from Alexandria University took silver, and Loui Saleh Abdel Samie from Mansoura University won bronze.
The overall ranking for athletics saw Alexandria University top the list with 9 medals, including 3 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze. The Capital University came second with 9 medals, comprising 2 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze. Ain Shams University ranked third with 4 medals, including 2 gold and 2 silver. The 4x100m mixed relay event saw Alexandria University take gold, the Capital University secure silver, and Mansoura University win bronze.
The table tennis competitions, which included individual and doubles events for students, witnessed fierce competition among participating universities. Amr Mahfouz Abdel Wahab from Cairo University won gold in the men's singles, while Mohamed Mahmoud Ibrahim from the Capital University took silver and Ahmed Ashraf Qasim from Suez Canal University secured bronze. In the women's doubles, Maha Mohamed El-Sayed El-Arabi and Tebbark Osama Nabawi from Suez Canal University took gold.
The Capital University won the overall table tennis championship, earning the gold medal, while Suez Canal University secured silver and Cairo University took bronze. Dr. Essam Farhat praised the exceptional performance of Egyptian university students during the competitions, emphasizing the importance of such events in discovering and nurturing young talent.
