The council of Alexandria University, led by Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim, Acting President of the university, recently honored the university's sustainability office for its efforts in promoting sustainability concepts within the university. This recognition comes after the university achieved an international ranking of 107th globally and first among African universities in the 2026 Sustainability Ranking. The sustainability office played a significant role in this achievement, demonstrating its commitment to serving the community and enhancing the university's presence regionally and internationally.
The council also honored the AquaPhoton team from the Faculty of Engineering for their outstanding performance in the Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) competitions. The team secured first place regionally in the MATE Egypt Regional ROV Competition held in Alexandria and fourth place globally in the MATE ROV World Championship in Canada. This achievement showcases the exceptional scientific and engineering capabilities of Alexandria University students and their ability to compete on the international stage.
Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim emphasized the importance of accelerating the upload of electronic books and educational content to the university's e-platform. This initiative aligns with the directives of the Supreme Council of Universities and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research to facilitate access to educational materials for students and promote digital transformation in the educational process.
The council discussed the need for coordination among faculties regarding lecture schedules to organize student movement and transportation, particularly during peak hours. This aims to improve the overall educational experience and provide a more efficient and effective learning environment.
The council congratulated the Faculty of Specific Education on being accredited by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation. This achievement recognizes the faculty's efforts in meeting the required standards and enhancing its programs to align with labor market needs.
Dr. Ahmed Abdel Hakim praised the outstanding performance of Alexandria University students participating in the 12th African University Games, held in Cairo from September 8-16. The students won a total of 55 medals, including 22 gold, 17 silver, and 16 bronze medals, demonstrating their exceptional athletic abilities and the university's ongoing support for student activities and sports.
