Egyptian authorities have announced plans to convert 300 public transport vehicles in Alexandria to run on natural gas instead of diesel. The first phase involved converting 50 buses, followed by a second phase that converted another 50 buses, bringing the total to 100 buses. The third phase targets 200 vehicles, including buses and mini-buses, with 115 vehicles already sent for conversion.
The third phase of the project includes 23 mini-buses with a capacity of 23 passengers each. So far, 115 vehicles have been sent for conversion, with 85 more to be completed. In parallel, the Authority has started upgrading buses that were previously converted to natural gas. This maintenance effort aims to ensure their readiness, extend their operational life, and maximize the return on existing investments.
