The Al-Mu'minaat Organisation, Lagos State, has graduated 170 women from 11 local governments, providing them with practical knowledge and skills to build sustainable enterprises. The graduation ceremony was part of the organisation's Annual State Entrepreneur Seminar, held on September 28 at the Dawah Centre in Lagos. The seminar's theme was "Sustainable Prosperity: Women Entrepreneurs Driving Innovation, Growth and National Development." The programme aimed to equip women with the skills needed to drive innovation and growth in their businesses.
The Entrepreneur Head of Al-Mu'minaat, Hajiya Fauziyels Taino Abdulfatai, welcomed guests and participants to the seminar, congratulating the graduands on completing the entrepreneurship programme. The programme was designed to provide women with practical knowledge and skills needed to build sustainable enterprises. Experts at the seminar urged participants to embrace strategic planning, digital tools, and sound financial management for sustainable business growth. The graduands were drawn from Surulere, Ikeja, Badagry, Shomolu, Ikorodu North, Ado Odo/Ota, Igbogbo-Bayeku, Alimosho, Eti Osa, Mushin, and Kosofe.
Hajia Husseinat Habeebullah Opeifa, CEO/Founder of Ushaa Luxury, delivered a lecture on "From Small Business to Sustainable Enterprise: Strategies for Long-Term Growth." She emphasized the importance of planning and having a roadmap for business growth. Opeifa identified profit, survival, and motivation as reasons people venture into business, urging entrepreneurs to have a clear purpose and direction. She also advised participants to distinguish between money meant for immediate needs and money that should be reinvested in their businesses.
Mr. Abdulhadi Durodola, Co-founder of Ascent Tech Hub, delivered a lecture on "Innovation, Digital Tools and Market Expansion for Women Entrepreneurs." He demonstrated how small businesses can expand their reach using digital tools. Durodola highlighted 10 marketing channels that entrepreneurs can deploy according to their business needs, including brand marketing, social media marketing, and email marketing. He emphasized the need for businesses to adapt their marketing strategies to their customers and operating environment.
The graduands expressed excitement over the knowledge and practical skills acquired during the programme. Aisha Oluwashigola Bint Islam from Igbogbo-Bayeku, Ikorodu, said the training had taught her to start small, have a clear business plan, and establish a definite mission and vision for her business. She also acquired AI training, which had changed how she produces promotional materials for her business. Another graduand, Sumayah Doduola, from Ikere Local Government Area, acquired practical skills in catering, AI marketing, and the production of household items.
The Amirah of Al-Mu'minaat, Lagos State, Hajia Balqis Abdullah, congratulated the graduands and urged them to translate the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme into practical business activities. She encouraged them to apply the lessons in building and improving their enterprises. The seminar ended with the presentation of certificates to the 170 graduands.
The programme is part of Al-Mu'minaat's efforts to empower women entrepreneurs in Lagos State. The organisation aims to provide women with the skills and knowledge needed to drive innovation and growth in their businesses.
