Under the auspices of Grand Imam Ahmed El-Tayeb, Sheikh of Al-Azhar, and Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Maya Morsi, Al-Azhar University led by Dr. Mahmoud Seddiq, organized a comprehensive development convoy to the city of Tur in South Sinai governorate. The convoy was arranged by the University's Community Service and Environmental Development Committee, with support from Governor of South Sinai, Dr. Ismail Mohamed Kamal. The initiative took place from September 23-26.
The convoy aims to achieve comprehensive empowerment and sustainable development in priority areas, as per the state's plan. According to Sham Ali, coordinator of the Community Service Committee, the convoy targets providing free medical services, including medical examinations, tests, and medication. Additionally, it offers food assistance, clothing, and medical supplies such as wheelchairs, crutches, and various medications.
The convoy comprises not only medical and food assistance but also an agricultural component carrying fruit seedlings and trees for planting. A veterinary unit is also part of the convoy. Furthermore, workshops on handicrafts, adult literacy tests, and health awareness seminars are scheduled. These initiatives demonstrate the collaborative efforts of Al-Azhar University and the Ministry of Social Solidarity to support the local community.
Dr. Mahmoud Seddiq, head of Al-Azhar University and supervisor of the Community Service Committee, emphasized that the convoy aligns with the university's provision of diverse community services.
