Al-Azhar University has announced the opening of applications for individuals interested in working as proctors from outside the university. The university is seeking qualified personnel to participate in monitoring and invigilation during the first semester exams of the 2026/2027 academic year. This move is part of the university's preparations to organize exams at its colleges for boys and girls in Cairo. Priority will be given to those who have been retired from Al-Azhar University.

The university's announcement, issued by the General Administration for Internal Review and Governance at the General Secretariat, indicates that applications are open to individuals from outside the university, including those retired from Al-Azhar, the Ministry of Education, and various government sectors. The goal is to involve qualified elements in invigilation and monitoring during exams, contributing to the organization of exam committees and ensuring adherence to rules and instructions governing the exam process.

Al-Azhar University has specified the target categories for working in exam invigilation. The university aims to involve qualified individuals in monitoring and invigilation during exams, which will help organize the process and ensure commitment to the rules and instructions governing the exam process. The university will prioritize applicants who have been retired from Al-Azhar University and also provide opportunities for former employees of Al-Azhar, the Ministry of Education, and various government sectors.

To be eligible, applicants must meet certain basic conditions, including being of the required age and possessing the necessary health and physical fitness to follow up on committee work throughout the exam period. Applicants must also have a suitable academic qualification, with preference given to those with previous experience in educational work or in Al-Azhar institutes or administrative fields. Additionally, applicants should not have been previously sentenced to a criminal or disciplinary penalty that undermines their honor.

The application conditions also include not having a close relative, up to the fourth degree, who is a student taking exams in the college where the applicant is assigned to work. Applicants must sign a pledge to fully commit to the rules organizing the work and the law regulating Al-Azhar and its internal regulations for managing exams. They will also be subject to accountability in case of violating the instructions in force.

The controls for working within exam committees include arriving at the college premises at least 15 minutes before the start of the exam committee to sign attendance registers and receive their assignments. Instructions emphasize verifying students' identities and reviewing their data through personal identification cards or university ID cards and seat numbers. Proctors will also be responsible for receiving question and answer papers, counting and collecting answer sheets, and reviewing them before the end of the exam time.

In case of detecting any cheating incident, proctors are required to immediately call the invigilator or committee head to take the necessary legal actions and prepare an official report, without taking individual actions outside the organized rules. These procedures come within the framework of organizing observation and monitoring work and enhancing commitment to instructions within exam committees, supporting the regularity of the exam process and preserving equal opportunities among students.
