Nigeria's Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, has tasked chief executive officers of federal parastatals with taking President Bola Tinubu's reforms and achievements to the grassroots. This move aims to counter widespread disinformation about government policies. Akume made the call on Friday in Abuja while receiving a delegation of the Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals, led by Dr Kazeem Kolawole Raji.
The Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals was established to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda within their respective agencies. Akume commended the forum for organising itself into a cohesive body. He noted that the structures and networks available to the federal parastatals could support the forum's proposed mobilisation of 10 million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
Akume, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Political and Economic Affairs Office, Bekearedebo Augusta Warrens, urged the CEOs to use their institutional platforms and grassroots networks to explain the rationale and impact of the administration's reforms. He stressed that people should be aware of these achievements, and the narrative that the reform policy is meant to imprison or impoverish Nigerians should be changed.
The SGF also assured the forum of the continued support of the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF). He urged its leadership to establish a structured framework for sustained collaboration with the office. This would enable proper tracking of its objectives and strategic initiatives.
Earlier, Raji conferred the position of Grand Patron of the Forum of CEOs of Federal Parastatals on Akume, citing his leadership and role in coordinating the machinery of government under the Tinubu administration. Raji said the forum aimed to mobilise 10 million votes for President Tinubu's re-election in 2027 through lawful, ethical, peaceful, and issue-based grassroots engagement.
The forum intends to leverage professional and community networks embedded in federal agencies across the country to strengthen communication between government and citizens. Bridging the communication gap between government policies and Nigerians is one of the forum's key objectives. The administration's achievements, reforms, and measurable outcomes must be properly documented and communicated with absolute fidelity to facts.
The Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs Office, Dr Chidiebere John Ezeamama, called for the creation of a work-related communication network between the forum and the OSGF. He proposed a centralised digital platform to facilitate real-time information sharing, coordinate inter-agency participation, and track developmental milestones of the various agencies.
