AIESEC Alumni Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Directors (CIoD) have formed a long-term partnership to strengthen leadership and board management skills. The collaboration aims to develop leadership programmes and build capacity among members and other stakeholders. This partnership is based on the alignment between the objectives of both organisations, particularly in leadership development and creating positive impact in society.

The partnership is crucial for AIESEC Alumni members, many of whom occupy leadership positions in companies, the public sector, and non-governmental organisations. The collaboration will enhance their leadership and board management skills, enabling them to make a more significant impact in their respective roles. Marcel Mba, President of AIESEC Alumni Nigeria, noted that the partnership would also enable CIoD to attract more members while providing AIESEC Alumni members with opportunities to improve their capabilities.

The partnership between AIESEC Alumni Nigeria and CIoD will go beyond membership and training. Both organisations plan to co-develop programmes that will have a sustained impact. AIESEC Alumni Nigeria focuses on leadership, training, and societal impact, while CIoD is committed to building leaders and strengthening board governance. The programmes will benefit not only AIESEC Alumni members but also other individuals seeking to develop their leadership and board management skills.

Adetunji Oyebanji, President and Chairman of Council, CIOD, stated that the collaboration with AIESEC aims to expose young people to ethical leadership and corporate governance principles early enough to prepare them for future leadership roles. He noted that collaboration remains one of the pillars of his administration. Oyebanji believes that AIESEC provides an opportunity for CIOD to begin building leadership and governance capacity among young people who could eventually become directors.

The partnership will help build the capacity of young people studying management and related disciplines. Oyebanji added that the initiative is about catching them young by training and exposing them to the principles of corporate governance from an early age. The knowledge gained through the collaboration is expected to remain with the beneficiaries throughout their careers and guide them when they assume leadership positions.

The partnership between AIESEC Alumni Nigeria and CIoD has no fixed timeframe and will continue for as long as both organisations can add value to each other. The collaboration will provide AIESEC Alumni members with opportunities to improve their capabilities and enable CIoD to attract more members. The programmes developed through this partnership will have a sustained impact, benefiting individuals and organisations in the long run.

The partnership is a significant step towards developing leadership and board management skills in Nigeria. Both organisations are committed to building leaders and strengthening board governance.
