The 8th edition of the "L'Afrique fait son Cinéma" festival will take place from November 6-14, 2026, at EICAR Paris in Ivry-sur-Seine. This event showcases the richness and diversity of African and Caribbean cinematic creations. Africa Radio is proud to be the official radio partner of this year's festival. The festival will feature 56 films from 24 countries and territories, competing for the Ubuntu Awards.
This year's festival will focus on the theme "L'imaginaire ne se programme pas – Raconter demain : nos histoires à l'ère de l'intelligence artificielle". The event invites attendees to reflect on the role of new technologies in artistic creation while emphasizing the importance of human stories, cultures, and sensitivities. The festival program includes a variety of films, such as fiction, documentaries, short and long films, animation, and creations made with artificial intelligence.
Lucien Jean-Baptiste, a French actor, director, and screenwriter of Martinican origin, will be the festival's patron for the second consecutive year. His film "Il a déjà tes yeux" will be screened during the opening ceremony on November 6. Clémentine Célarié, a French actress born in Dakar, will be the festival's godmother. The long film jury will be presided over by actor Richard Sammel, known for his roles in "Inglourious Basterds" and "Casino Royale".
The festival will offer various activities, including projections, meetings, and masterclasses. Attendees can participate in workshops, roundtable discussions, and meet the film teams. A professional market, "The Market", will take place from November 8-10, bringing together film industry actors to discuss projects and collaboration opportunities.
The festival's closing ceremony on November 14 will feature a screening of "Fanon", directed by Jean-Claude Barny, followed by the Ubuntu Awards. The event aims to promote African and Caribbean talents, stories, and perspectives.
The festival is open to the public, with tickets available for individual screenings or as an all-access pass. Practical information, including dates, location, and ticket prices, is available on the festival's website.
