The African Import-Export Bank (Afreximbank) and the Africa Trading and Distribution Company (ATDC) have concluded an agreement for a $500 million global credit facility. This facility aims to boost trade, circulation, and distribution of raw materials and products in African and global markets. The agreement was announced in a statement released by Afreximbank on September 22, 2026.

The ATDC is a pan-African platform established to develop trade in Africa, accelerate industrialization through greater local valuation, and strengthen the continent's economic integration. The company is expanding its operations from Egypt to Nigeria, Malawi, and Zimbabwe to address trade and market intelligence gaps, facilitate access to outlets, and support the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Under this facility, Afreximbank will provide ATDC with trade finance capacity to carry out and develop eligible trading and distribution operations across the continent. This will support the purchase and aggregation of African products, as well as costs related to logistics, transportation, warehousing, and distribution. Repayment will be ensured by revenues generated from the sale of financed goods.

This initiative is part of a broader context where Tunisia is strengthening its cooperation with Afreximbank. In June 2026, Afreximbank concluded a $500 million loan agreement with the African Import-Export Bank, aimed at supporting the mobilization of external resources and financing the import of strategic goods, particularly in the energy and food sectors.

Tunisia has also examined a project to launch a multidisciplinary African commercial center in Tunisia with an Afreximbank delegation. This move is part of efforts to strengthen the country's position in African trade and develop exchanges with continental markets.

The ATDC's activities are designed to complement Afreximbank's trade finance initiatives, which aim to promote African trade and economic integration. By providing financing for trade and distribution operations, Afreximbank and ATDC seek to increase access to finance for African businesses and support the growth of intra-African trade.

The $500 million credit facility is expected to have a positive impact on African trade, enabling ATDC to expand its operations and support the development of new trade opportunities. This, in turn, is likely to contribute to the growth of African economies and promote economic integration across the continent.
