Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has denied reports of a deal with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to share legislative and local government positions in the state. According to a statement by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, the governor's political alliance with the Presidency is focused on the 2027 presidential election. Adeleke reaffirmed his commitment to the re-election of President Bola Tinubu.

The denial comes after social media reports claimed that the alleged deal would see the Osun Accord and the state APC share positions in the Senate, House of Representatives, State Assembly, and local governments. Adeleke described the reports as "mere fabrication and fake news". He emphasized that negotiations to resolve the local government crisis in Osun aimed to protect the interests of both APC chairpersons and elected Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairmen and councillors.

Adeleke expressed confidence that the local government crisis would be resolved before the end of the year. He stated that as the governor of all Osun indigenes and residents, his administration is working to ensure that all interests are protected and cared for. The governor noted that restoring grassroots governance is a condition for a successful campaign ahead of the 2027 elections.

The governor maintained that the political alliance with the Presidency did not extend to legislative elections, stressing that candidates of different parties would compete for those positions. He said that during the inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council, the coalition was targeted at the presidential election, with partners agreeing to join hands to ensure the re-election of President Tinubu.

Adeleke urged political parties to campaign for their candidates, insisting that the electorate would determine the outcome of the legislative contests. He emphasized that he would work and campaign for Accord candidates for Senate, House of Representatives, and the State House of Assembly. The governor encouraged all political parties to campaign for their candidates.

Adeleke reiterated that there is no deal on the National Assembly and the State Assembly elections, adding that all candidates will face the electorate who has the final say. He assured that his administration will work to ensure a free and fair electoral process. The governor's statement has clarified the situation, dispelling rumors of a deal with APC.

The development is significant, given the upcoming elections and the importance of Osun State in Nigerian politics. Adeleke's administration has been working to resolve the local government crisis, and his denial of a deal with APC is seen as a move to maintain transparency and accountability in the electoral process. The governor's commitment to the re-election of President Tinubu remains unwavering.
