The ADC Presidential Campaign Council has strongly criticized APC spokesman Felix Morka's recent attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. In a statement, the Council's Director of Strategic Communications, Frank Shuaibu, accused Morka of attempting to discredit Atiku through insults and unsubstantiated allegations. Shuaibu emphasized that Morka's claims cannot be considered evidence and urged him to produce a judgment against Atiku if he has one.
Shuaibu pointed out that Morka's allegations fail to address the pressing issues facing Nigerians, such as the rising costs of food, fuel, transport, and electricity. He described Morka as an "untutored spin doctor" for a party struggling with the challenges of a "sinking regime." The Council argued that Morka's arguments are baseless and merely aim to distract from the real issues.
The Council also questioned Morka's warning that Atiku must be kept away from the national treasury, citing the APC's own history of financial controversies. Shuaibu referenced a US forfeiture case involving President Tinubu, which resulted in the forfeiture of $460,000 from an account in Tinubu's name due to narcotics trafficking allegations.
Shuaibu highlighted the details of the US affidavit, which describes Tinubu's involvement in a heroin network, using aliases, and making wire transfers through various bank accounts. He emphasized that these transactions involved several individuals, including Adegboyega Mueez Akande, who introduced Tinubu to First Heritage Bank, and Oluremi Tinubu, who held a joint checking account with her husband and another account with Akande's wife.
The Council also drew attention to a US federal court ruling in 2025, which acknowledged that Tinubu was a subject of a criminal investigation involving the FBI and the Drug Enforcement Administration. They called for the fullest lawful disclosure of the relevant records, urging Tinubu to explain the contents of these records and his role in the events described.
Furthermore, the Council challenged the APC to clarify inconsistencies in Tinubu's educational records. They noted discrepancies between Tinubu's stated birth year and educational background, including a college application record that listed Government College Lagos as his alma mater, despite the school's founding in 1974.
The Council concluded that the APC's credibility on integrity issues is compromised due to the unexplained discrepancies in Tinubu's records. They urged the APC to bring forward the relevant records and allow Nigerians to judge, rather than lecturing on Atiku's character.
