Ezeamalukuo explained that the traditional New Yam Festival in Igbo communities often coincides with the period when city-residing children return to school, making it difficult for them to witness and participate in cultural celebrations. He said, "We started this festival in 2023 to carry our young people along and give them the opportunity to participate in the cultural and masquerade festival." The initiative has received overwhelming acceptance from Achara Layout residents, with growing attendance demonstrating their enthusiasm for preserving cultural identity.
