The Accra Regional Police Command intercepted a four-man gang planning to rob a Shell filling station near Agbogboloshie on Thursday, September 10, 2026. According to Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the police received credible intelligence that four men riding motorbikes were heading to the filling station. A team from the Accra Regional Police Intelligence and Professional Standards Directorate, assisted by an operational unit, responded to the tip and encountered the suspects at the Galoway Police Barrier.
An exchange of gunfire occurred, resulting in one of the four men being shot. The remaining three suspects abandoned their motorbikes and fled the scene on foot. The injured suspect was found carrying an AK-47 assault rifle bearing the serial number 79-HF3014, fitted with a double magazine holding 135 rounds of ammunition, along with an additional 50 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The suspect was rushed to the Police Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead on arrival. His body has been deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary pending identification and an autopsy. The police also recovered two unregistered motorbikes — a Royal and an Apsonic — which, along with the firearm and ammunition, are being held as exhibits for further investigations.
