Accessible Publishers Limited, a leading Lagos-based publisher, is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a significant expansion into digital education. The company is investing in technology-enabled education services, positioning digital products as a new avenue for expanding access to learning materials and improving school administration. This move is part of a broader growth strategy, as the company seeks to leverage its experience in traditional publishing to make a meaningful impact in the digital education space.
The company's digital strategy is centered around its SmartEdu Hub platform, which provides digital access to educational content and helps schools manage academic and administrative activities. Developed by Best Technologies Limited, the platform aims to improve communication and collaboration among schools, teachers, parents, and learners. According to Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Accessible Publishers, Gbadega Adedapo, the company is combining its three-decade publishing experience with digital solutions as it prepares for its next phase of growth.
The SmartEdu Hub platform is designed to enable schools to manage academic activities more efficiently while giving students easier access to educational resources. Team Lead of Best Technologies, Mayowa Bernard, noted that the platform has the potential to revolutionize the way educational content is delivered and accessed. By providing a digital platform for educational resources, Accessible Publishers aims to expand access to learning materials and improve learning outcomes.
Accessible Publishers recently held a grand finale and prize-giving ceremony for its 2026 Accessible Summer Competition, which was part of the activities marking its 30th anniversary. The competition, which attracted 5,226 students from across Nigeria without an entry fee, was conducted over two weeks in mathematics, English, and science. The nationwide reach of the competition highlighted the potential of digital platforms to connect students across different locations with the same educational content and assessment opportunities.
The summer competition saw four students emerge as winners, sharing a total prize money of N2 million. Happiness John, a JSS 1 student of Joy Prime Model Secondary School in Akwa Ibom State, received the N1 million first prize. Agaga-Oamen Dave-Wisdom of The Oasis Schools, Ekpoma, Edo State, won N500,000, while Daniel Barry Monsigia of Teko School, Rivers State, and Okunoye Mojolaoluwa Deborah of Oritamefa Baptist Model School, Ibadan, received N250,000 each.
Beyond the competition, Accessible Publishers is seeking to make its digital expansion central to its future growth. Chief People Officer of Accessible Publishers, Fola-Akinlose Vincent, emphasized that the company's technology investments remain linked to its broader education mission, with the impact of educational resources ultimately measured by improvements in learning outcomes. The shift comes as education publishers increasingly explore digital platforms and services to complement physical textbooks and reach learners beyond conventional distribution channels.
The company's digital strategy is expected to play a central role in its expansion plans, as it seeks to move from being primarily a publisher of educational materials to a broader provider of education technology services. With its SmartEdu Hub platform, Accessible Publishers is well-positioned to make a meaningful impact in the digital education space and improve access to quality educational resources for students across Nigeria.
