The 21st edition of the Abuja International Trade Fair, organised by the Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry, commenced with 500 exhibitors showcasing over 10,000 products, services, and solutions. The fair, which will run for 12 days, is expected to attract close to 100,000 visitors. The event aims to create commercial linkages that businesses need to thrive, according to the President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu.

Chief Emeka Obegolu stated that the fair will provide opportunities for business-to-business and business-to-government engagements, product exhibitions, investment networking, policy dialogue, fashion and creative displays, cultural activities, and consumer interaction. He emphasized that the fair demonstrates how commerce, culture, and creativity can work together to strengthen enterprise, promote tourism, and create economic value.

According to Chief Emeka Obegolu, behind every exhibition stand is a business seeking growth, and behind every product is an investment. He added that behind every successful transaction is the potential for new jobs, stronger enterprises, and wider prosperity. The fair aims to bring together businesses, investors, and policymakers to explore new opportunities and foster economic growth.

Chief Emeka Obegolu also called for greater harmonisation and coordination of taxes, rates, fees, and levies across the FCT. He suggested that there should be a clear framework defining the responsibilities of the respective authorities, eliminating unnecessary duplication and ensuring that businesses are not subjected to multiple charges for the same or substantially similar activities.

Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, the 1st deputy vice president of ACCI, noted that the fair pays particular attention to the needs of businesses while providing meaningful opportunities for trade, investment, networking, and market access. He emphasized that the event is designed to support businesses and promote economic growth.
