The Assemblies of God World Congress delegation, led by Rev. Stephen Wengam, recently paid a courtesy call on Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, in Accra. The delegation included Rev. Albert Anane, Rev. Andrews Awintia, and other committee members. They informed the Minister about the upcoming 10th Triennial Congress of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship, scheduled for October 14-16, 2026.

The Congress, being held in Accra, marks the first time the event has been hosted in Africa and Ghana. Rev. Wengam stated that the event will bring significant spiritual and economic benefits to Ghana, especially since the current President is a member of the Church. He expressed gratitude to President John Mahama and the Government of Ghana for their support in organizing the event.

Rev. Wengam appealed for assistance for international guests at Ghana's embassies abroad to facilitate visa acquisition. He also mentioned that former President of Malawi, H.E. Rev. Dr. Lazarus Chakwera, will attend the Congress. The Minister for Foreign Affairs commended the World Assemblies of God Fellowship for choosing Ghana and Africa as hosts, acknowledging the denomination's contributions to global evangelization and peace.

The Minister pledged the Government's full support to ensure the Congress's success, as directed by President John Mahama. Ablakwa appointed two senior officials to serve on the Local Organising Committee, in addition to a staff member already serving. The General Superintendent presented a Bible as a gift to the Minister, urging him to be guided by the Word of God in leading the Ministry.

The World Assemblies of God Fellowship's Congress is a significant event, with the Assemblies of God being the largest Protestant denomination globally. The event's hosting in Ghana highlights the country's importance in the global Christian community. The Government's support for the Congress underscores its commitment to promoting spiritual and economic development.

The Congress will take place from October 14-16, 2026, at an undisclosed venue in Accra. The event is expected to attract participants from across the globe, providing a platform for spiritual growth and fellowship. The Local Organising Committee, led by Rev. Andrews Awintia, is working to ensure a successful event.

The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson, and the Chief Director, Ambassador Khadija Iddrisu, were present to receive the delegation. The Minister's pledge of support and appointment of officials to the Local Organising Committee demonstrate the Government's commitment to the event's success.
