Momentum, a leading US supplier of contract textiles and wallcoverings, has partnered with the Interact Center for the Visual and Performing Arts to launch a new collection of digital wallcoverings featuring artworks by 9 artists with disabilities. The collection, announced on October 13, 2026, is part of Momentum's Digital Art Library and marks a significant collaboration between the two organizations. The artworks will be displayed in various settings, including hotels, offices, hospitals, and schools.

The 9 artists, all part of Interact's studio in St. Paul, Minnesota, bring diverse perspectives and experiences to their work. Interact is a nonprofit visual art studio and theatre company that works with professional artists with and without disabilities. Founded in 1996, the studio has no entry requirements, and members work in an open studio environment guided by staff who are practicing artists themselves. Interact Gallery represents 73 artists who currently practice at the studio, as well as many alumni.

The artworks featured in the collection include "Menagerie" by David Bauman, which gathers his line drawings of creatures, and "Mushrooms" by Sarah Armstrong, which showcases her watercolor fungi paintings. Other artists include Katie Bretzman, known for her quilt-like drawings, Kaia Burg, who creates bold and colorful shapes, and Carl Clark, who paints wide spaces with steady, unhurried strokes. Each artist brings their unique style and perspective to their work, showcasing their undeniable talent.

The partnership between Momentum and Interact is significant, as it brings disability-led art into everyday spaces and highlights the underrepresentation of artists with disabilities in major institutions. Brittany Kieler, Gallery Director at Interact, emphasizes that the collaboration translates the artists' work into large-scale, immersive formats, showcasing their singular perspectives on a premier commercial stage. This partnership also marks a milestone for Interact, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.

The artists' works are not only showcased in this collection but have also been exhibited in various settings, including galleries, museums, and public spaces. For example, Kaia Burg's work has been shown at Minneapolis Central Library's Cargill Gallery, University of Iowa Healthcare, and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Similarly, Carl Clark's work appeared in Interact's booths at the Outsider Art Fair in New York in 2025 and 2026.

The partnership between Momentum and Interact aims to promote inclusivity and diversity in the art world. By showcasing artworks by artists with disabilities, the collaboration challenges traditional notions of art and highlights the creative value of these artists. AJ Paron, whose son Devin Wildes has been part of Interact for about nine years, describes Interact as a place where labels aren't relevant, and artists are celebrated for their creative value.

The collection of digital wallcoverings is a significant step towards making art more accessible and inclusive. By partnering with Interact, Momentum is not only promoting diversity but also providing a platform for artists with disabilities to showcase their work. The artworks will be displayed in various settings, promoting awareness and appreciation for disability-led art.
