Sixty young residents from the Nyong-et-So'o department in Cameroon have received training kits to initiate their careers in banana-plantain farming. The kits were distributed by Minister of Labor and Social Security, Grégoire Owona, in Ngomedzap on September 21, 2026. The kits also include equipment to reduce the drudgery of work, such as chainsaws and brush cutters. This initiative is expected to boost the production of banana-plantain in the country.
After completing their training, the young beneficiaries will receive 500 vitroplants each to launch their productions. The harvested produce will be bought directly from the farm by partners of Agora and FBPC. Minister Grégoire Owona encouraged the young entrepreneurs to make the most of this opportunity and become successful creators of employment in the sector. He was accompanied by Abdou Nassiri, sub-prefect of the Ngomedzap district.
The ceremony marked the third promotion of the Ngomedzap Agro-Pastoral Forum (Agora). The young beneficiaries will undergo a week-long intensive training at the FBPC incubation center in Kribi.
