The third annual Islamic Hadith competition organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Scholars kicked off in Rabat, Morocco, with 123 participants from 48 African countries. The competition, which will run for three days, features three categories that focus on memorizing and understanding Islamic Hadiths, as well as familiarizing oneself with the rules of Hadith sciences.
The competition's categories include memorizing 40 Hadiths related to prophetic signs, 30 Hadiths on the prophetic attributes, and 30 Hadiths on prophetic characteristics, along with understanding some Hadith sciences rules. The participants will be evaluated based on two systems, one of which involves scoring out of 20 points, while the other allows judges to assess the participants' performance.
A central scientific committee consisting of scholars and experts in Hadith sciences from various African countries, including Morocco, will oversee the evaluation process. The committee comprises scholars from Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Chad, Nigeria, South Sudan, and Côte d'Ivoire, as well as Moroccan experts in the field.
The Mohammed VI Foundation for African Scholars aims to strengthen the connection between young Africans and the Islamic Hadith, as well as promote knowledge of the Prophet's biography and character. The foundation's initiative seeks to foster a culture of peaceful coexistence within African societies by disseminating the values embodied in the Prophet's teachings.
In his opening speech, Mohammed Refki, Secretary-General of the Mohammed VI Foundation for African Scholars, stated that the competition's focus on the Prophet's biography aligns with the high-level directives of King Mohammed VI, aiming to activate the foundation's objectives and enhance its scientific roles.
