The Delta State Police Command has arrested 22 suspected cultists in separate operations at Eku and Owhelogbo communities in the state. The suspects, including Best Enarisa, Alex David, and Precious Onokponu, were taken into custody by operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit. According to the police, the arrests were made to curb cult-related activities and associated violence across the state.

Fifteen of the suspects, who were arrested at Eku community in Ethiope east council area, were arraigned before the Federal High Court, Warri, on September 25, 2026. They were charged with offences bordering on conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society, specifically the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as “Arobag.” The court subsequently ordered their remand in correctional custody pending further proceedings.

Seven additional suspects, who were arrested at Owhelogbo Community in Isoko north council area, were arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court. They were also charged with similar offences related to cultism. The police public relations officer, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed that the suspects were arrested to prevent cult-related activities and associated violence.

The state commissioner of Police, Samuel E. Erale, has reiterated that the command will continue to pursue cultism cases beyond arrest through diligent investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law. He warned persons involved in cult-related activities to desist, urging parents, community leaders, and other stakeholders to support the Police with credible and timely information.

Commissioner Erale emphasized the importance of community collaboration in preventing cult-related activities. He encouraged stakeholders to provide information that could help prevent violence and promote peace across the state.
