Deputy President of the Senate, Jibrin Barau, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will win the 2027 presidential election. He cited assessments by political analysts and the prevailing political situation in Nigeria. Barau made this statement at the inauguration of campaign committees for Dawakin Tofa, Tofa and Rimin Gado Local Government Areas in Kano State. He urged All Progressives Congress members to unite and work towards victory for all the party’s candidates in the forthcoming general elections.
Barau commended party leaders, elected representatives, local government chairmen, Governor Abba Yusuf and other stakeholders for their support for the APC. He expressed confidence that the party’s unity and cooperation in Kano would be sustained. According to Barau, Kano, one of the country’s largest states and second only to Lagos in the number of registered voters, deserved greater attention and development opportunities from the Federal Government.
The Deputy Senate President said Yusuf’s decision to move from the New Nigeria Peoples Party to the APC was a strategic step that had enhanced Kano’s political relevance and improved its prospects of attracting development. He added that the alignment of the governor, local government chairmen, councillors, state lawmakers and members of the National Assembly under the APC would help translate the party’s political strength into tangible benefits for the people.
Barau said the forthcoming elections would provide an opportunity for elected representatives to contribute more to the development of their constituencies. He explained that the campaign committees were constituted to include party leaders, executive members, former and serving lawmakers, councillors, local government chairmen, new members and respected elders.
He urged the committee members to mobilise voters and campaign vigorously for the party ahead of the elections. Barau emphasized that the committee members’ role was crucial in securing victory for the APC. He tasked them with mobilizing and campaigning to ensure that all APC candidates emerge victorious from top to bottom.
Barau attributed Tinubu’s likely success in the 2027 presidential election to the foundation laid during his first term. He expressed optimism that this foundation would yield positive results in his second term. According to Barau, all indications suggest that Tinubu will win the presidential election, based on the assessments of political analysts and the current state of Nigerian politics.
The inauguration of the campaign committees marks a significant step towards the forthcoming general elections. Barau’s confidence in Tinubu’s victory and the APC’s unity in Kano State underscores the party’s determination to achieve success in the elections. The Deputy Senate President’s call for active participation from committee members highlights the importance of grassroots mobilization in securing victory for the APC.
