Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged Nigerians, political stakeholders, and the faith community to remain united and seek divine guidance ahead of the 2027 general elections. He made the call at the Mega Christian Political Prayer Rally in Asaba, which was organized by Team RM and Sheriff Patriot in conjunction with various faith-based organizations and community-based religious groups. The Governor was represented at the rally by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, Ph.D.
The rally's central theme, "Operation Total Sweep," aims to promote unity, mobilization, and commitment for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State. The Governor emphasized that prayer must go hand-in-hand with active civic responsibility, love, and peaceful engagement. He drew inspiration from biblical verses, including 2 Chronicles 7:14, Psalm 133:1, and James 5:16. The Governor stressed that leadership is a sacred responsibility that requires fairness, compassion, and accountability.
Governor Oborevwori commended the organizers and the Christian community for seeking God's guidance for Nigeria. He noted that the gathering demonstrated the faith in God and the shared commitment to the peace, unity, and progress of Delta State. The Governor called on the Church to continue to be a strong voice for righteousness, peace, integrity, and good citizenship. He also urged the people to work together, remain united, and ensure that their message of faith, development, peace, and good governance reaches everyone.
The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who is the Delta North Senatorial candidate in the forthcoming elections, also spoke at the rally. He called on all Nigerians to vote for all the candidates of the APC in the forthcoming elections, noting that the various reforms and policies at the federal, state, and local government levels are for the benefits of the people. Sen. Okowa gave several reasons why Nigerians and Deltans should vote for the candidates of the APC.
Other speakers at the occasion, including Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, Senior Political Adviser to the Governor, Sen. Emmanuel Agwaravwodo, Prince Emma Amgbaduba, Chairman, APC Delta South, among others, called on Christians to translate their support for the APC into voting in the forthcoming general election. They emphasized the importance of unity and mobilization for the success of the party.
Rev. Okonye Ifechukwude, State Mobilization Director/State Coordinator, Religious Matters, explained that TEAM RM SHERIFF PATRIOTS is a platform for Faith Based Organizations (FBOs) and Community Based Religious Groups (CBRGs) to come together to speak with one voice politically in favor of the APC. He disclosed that the resolution began with a consultative meeting where it was unanimously resolved to vote in favor of the party APC with the motion moved for the adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as sole Presidential candidate of APC.
Bishop Kingsley Enakirerhi, represented by Rev. Priestly Dafe, delivered a sermon at the rally, emphasizing that power belongs to God. He noted that power has different hierarchies, with God being the highest, followed by government, the Church, the family, and institutions. The Bishop enjoined all to know that power belongs to God and that leaders must advance His kingdom and His church.
