Prince Samben Nwosu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Anambra South in the 2027 general election, has stated that his ambition is driven by the desire to provide effective representation for his constituents. He made this statement on Tuesday, September 29, at his country home in Ndiakwu Otolo, Nnewi. Nwosu emphasized that he would not go to the Senate merely to enjoy official privileges such as siren-blaring convoys and expensive vehicles with tinted glasses.
According to Nwosu, his priority would be to deliver quality representation, promote development, and ensure that the people of Anambra South benefit directly from democracy. He described his decision to run as a bid to bring a positive change in the representation of Anambra South Senatorial District. Nwosu expressed dissatisfaction with the current representation, stating that the people of Anambra South are not comfortable with their current senator.
Nwosu dismissed concerns that vote buying or alleged electoral manipulation could undermine his chances in 2027. He stated that the people of Anambra South were determined to make their votes count, describing the contest as a choice between “political moneybags” and the people seeking better governance. The PDP candidate noted that Anambra South has decided where to go, and vote buying cannot work in 2027.
The former Federal Commissioner at the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) emphasized that he was not in the race because of financial advantage but to change the pattern of political representation in the district. Nwosu highlighted his grassroots relationships and previous public service experience, which he believes would help him connect effectively with the electorate. He criticized the practice whereby some elected representatives allegedly become inaccessible after winning elections.
Nwosu promised to introduce a sustainable empowerment model that would benefit constituents throughout the electoral cycle rather than provide short-term assistance during election periods. He stated that if elected, every Local Government Area (LGA) in his senatorial district will have his signature project and will feel his presence. The PDP candidate also promised that whatever bill or motion to be presented on the floor of the Senate will have a direct impact on the daily lives and businesses of the people.
On his chances against candidates from other political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Nwosu described himself as a household name with strong grassroots connections. He expressed confidence in the organisational strength of the PDP, saying its structures remain present across communities in the country.
Nwosu listed his priorities if elected, including youth development, erosion control, improved educational opportunities, and other initiatives aimed at delivering tangible benefits to the people of Anambra South. He maintained that his campaign would be centred on “quality representation and good governance,” rather than the privileges associated with political office.
