The Council of Ministers of Mauritania convened on September 30, 2026, under the leadership of President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. Membership in the TDB Group will also strengthen South-South partnerships, promote intra-African trade, and enhance the integration of the Mauritanian economy into regional financing and investment circuits.
Another key project adopted was a draft law authorizing Mauritania's accession to the agreement establishing the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATIDI). The agency was established to contribute to Africa's economic development by promoting trade, investment, and regional integration. ATIDI aims to reduce risks that hinder private and public financing, mobilize capital for strategic projects, and create a favorable investment environment.
In addition to these draft laws, the Council of Ministers adopted several decrees. These included the appointment of the President of the Board of Directors of the Specialties Hospital Center and the President of the Board of Directors of the Rosso Public Health School. A decree fixing the organization and management modalities of the Rural Electrification Fund (FER) was also adopted.
The Council of Ministers also acknowledged the successful visit of President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani to the Adrar and Inchiri wilayas from September 20 to 26, 2026. The President's visit aimed to assess living conditions, listen to citizens' concerns, and understand their aspirations. The Council extended its thanks and congratulations to the populations of these wilayas for their exceptional mobilization and warm welcome.
