The North-Central region of Nigeria has launched a grassroots mobilisation movement to support the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027. The movement, led by Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, and Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, aims to secure widespread support for Tinubu across the region. The initiative was launched at an inaugural meeting held at Akume's office in Abuja.

Akume stated that the movement's primary objective is to canvass support and mobilise a massive turnout for President Tinubu in the 2027 election. He commended the movement's National Coordinator, Sonny Echono, for initiating the platform and bringing stakeholders together. The SGF added that the North-Central region is targeting the highest regional vote total for Tinubu in the election.

Governor Abdullahi Sule described the initiative as timely, citing the region's strengthened political position ahead of the 2027 election. He attributed this to the presence of key political appointees from the region, including the SGF and the APC National Chairman. Sule expressed confidence that the region would record a strong showing for Tinubu and other APC candidates in 2027.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, commended Echono for the initiative, describing the movement as the first of its kind. Idris assured stakeholders that the necessary structures would be provided to support the movement's activities ahead of the 2027 general election.

Echono stated that the movement's objective is to coordinate political leaders and grassroots stakeholders across the six states of the North-Central region. He noted that the conversation is no longer simply about whether President Tinubu will win the North-Central, but about the region positioning itself to deliver the highest number of votes to the President in the 2027 election.

The movement has garnered support from various stakeholders, including Akume, the North-Central Governors' Forum, and other stakeholders. Echono commended them for their support for the Tinubu administration. The movement's launch marks a significant step towards mobilising support for Tinubu's re-election bid in the North-Central region.

The North-Central region's mobilisation effort is seen as a crucial step towards achieving a strong showing for Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 election. With the region's strengthened political position and the support of key stakeholders, the movement is poised to make a significant impact in the election.
