The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has vowed to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election, determined to vote out the ruling party. At an enlarged senatorial meeting in Ewohimi, Edo State, the party unveiled candidates for the state and National Assembly elections in Edo Central Senatorial District. The meeting aimed to mobilize party structures ahead of the 2027 elections and intensify grassroots campaigns to defeat the APC.

The ADC expressed confidence in its ability to defeat the APC, citing growing public dissatisfaction with the party's governance. Former governorship aspirant, Kenneth Imansuaghon, representing the party's National Leader, Prof. Oserhiemen Osunbor, declared that the APC has failed Nigerians, citing poor infrastructure and insecurity. He expressed optimism that former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar would emerge as Nigeria's next president.

Imansuaghon took a swipe at the Edo APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, over a viral video where he allegedly threatened to use AK-47 guns to rig the election. Imansuaghon retorted that the ADC has the people's votes, not guns, and that any attempt at electoral manipulation would be defeated. He described Atiku as the most prepared presidential candidate, ready to rescue the country and restore hope.

The meeting witnessed the defection of members from the APC, New Democratic Congress (NDC), and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) into the ADC. Imansuaghon predicted defeat for Governor Monday Okpebholo in Edo Central and dismissed the APC's projected 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu as a political smokescreen.

Edo ADC Chairman, Tony Alile, declared that no amount of threats would discourage voters from exercising their franchise. The party urged members to intensify grassroots campaigns to ensure the defeat of the APC. The ADC's stance comes amid growing tensions between the party and the APC in Edo State.

Imansuaghon narrated his experience traveling from Benin to Ewohimi village, which took over five hours, compared to 45 minutes under the PDP administration. He described the situation as unacceptable, saying Nigerians are tired of suffering and poor governance. The ADC is banking on the electorate's dissatisfaction to vote out the APC in 2027.

The ADC's bold stance against the APC in Edo State sets the stage for a potentially heated 2027 election. With the party's structures mobilized and candidates unveiled, the ADC appears determined to give the APC a run for its money. The party's confidence in Atiku Abubakar's presidential bid and its determination to defeat the APC in Edo Central Senatorial District will be put to the test in the coming elections.
