ZOA Uganda, an international NGO with a Christian identity, is seeking a Project Coordinator for its WASH OCHA project in Kiryandongo, Uganda. The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of WASH activities under the OCHA-funded humanitarian project. The project aims to improve access to safe water and reduce the risk of WASH-related disease outbreaks in Palorinya, Rhino Camp, and Kiryandongo refugee settlements.
The Project Coordinator will work closely with the Project Manager WASH to plan and implement WASH activities in two outcome areas. These areas include improved access to safe water and reduced risk of WASH-related disease outbreaks through emergency sanitation and hygiene support. The coordinator will oversee the implementation of activities, ensure proper documentation of WASH activities and data, and conduct regular monitoring and technical support visits to project sites and camps.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include conducting needs assessments, project reviews, and post-project impact assessments as needed. The coordinator will also participate in preparing proposals, technical descriptions, and budget development, and produce detailed implementation plans for the WASH component of the project. Additionally, they will ensure that WASH projects are implemented in a timely and professional manner, according to ZOA, Ugandan government, and donor requirements.
The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for human resource management, including providing technical support to hygiene promoters and ensuring they meet their weekly and monthly targets. They will conduct weekly or monthly meetings to achieve targets and provide coaching and mentorship to hygiene promoters for quality implementation of project activities. The coordinator will also be responsible for procurement and finance, including initiating timely purchase requisitions and ensuring expenses are within the approved budget.
In terms of qualifications, the successful candidate is expected to have a university degree in a related field, such as hydraulic engineering, water resource engineering, or environmental or public health. They should have at least four years of experience in WASH, preferably in a humanitarian setting, and experience working with local organizations. A good command of English, including written reporting and activity reporting, is also required.
The Project Coordinator will be required to work independently and have good computer skills, including MS Excel and MS Word. They should be self-motivated, able to take initiatives with limited supervision, and have a high level of personal integrity. The coordinator will also be required to have a valid driving/riding license and be able to drive a motorcycle.
