The Zinder region of Niger kicked off the 2026-2027 academic year with an official ceremony on October 1, 2026, at the Kouran Daga primary school in the first communal district of Zinder. The event was presided over by Deputy Secretary General of the Zinder region, Mourtala Ibrahim, in the presence of regional administrative authorities, education sector officials, union representatives, teachers, students, and several parents.

As part of the launch, Mourtala Ibrahim, accompanied by several regional officials, visited various schools, including Kouran Daga primary school, CES Chare Zamna, and the Niger-Algeria Friendship Vocational High School. The goal was to assess the conditions for the start of the new academic year. Ibrahim expressed his satisfaction with the smooth start of the academic year, highlighting the efforts made by national authorities to ensure a successful launch despite the challenges facing the country.

The national authorities, led by President of the Republic, Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tiani, and Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine, have prioritized the education sector. According to Ibrahim, the state has mobilized school supplies that can cover needs for up to two years. He called on all education stakeholders to demonstrate commitment, patience, and patriotism to overcome challenges and make the 2026-2027 academic year a success.

Idi Adamou, Director of the National Education Regional Office, noted that this academic year's launch occurs in a particular context. He described it as a "year of combat" for the Zinder region, recalling the encouraging results achieved in recent years in the education sector. Adamou praised the efforts made by the state and education partners to support the national education system.

Adamou urged teachers and students to maintain their work pace to consolidate gains and further improve the region's school performance. He wished the entire educational community a successful academic year. Teachers and parents expressed satisfaction with the resumption of classes, with many appreciating the efforts made by authorities and educators in preparing for the new academic year.

A teacher at CES Chare Zamna, Moustapha Maman Sani, and parent Barma Tchombé welcomed the return to school, citing the availability of school supplies and good organizational conditions. An educator, Mohamed Fatima Harouna, expressed her satisfaction at resuming work and wished students a healthy, happy, and successful academic year.

The launch of the 2026-2027 academic year in Zinder reflects the region's commitment to education, with stakeholders optimistic about achieving success despite existing challenges.
