The Zamfara State Government, in collaboration with the World Bank and other development partners, is developing an executive dashboard to improve monitoring and visibility of government projects across the state. This initiative aims to enhance accountability and transparency in project implementation. The initiative was discussed at an engagement meeting involving World Bank project coordinators and representatives of donor-funded programmes in the state. The meeting, held at the Conference Hall of the Zamfara State Operation Management and Development Agency (OMDA) in Gusau, was chaired by Commissioner for Finance and Portfolio Focal Person, Bello Auta. Auta emphasized that the dashboard development was at the directive of Governor Dauda Lawal, highlighting the government's commitment to improving project delivery and transparency.
According to World Bank consultant, Anthony Edozieuno, the dashboard is designed to improve portfolio performance and accelerate project delivery. The system will be built around people, processes, and technology, ensuring seamless integration and effective utilization. Edozieuno also assured that the dashboard will remain the property of the Zamfara State Government, providing a sustainable solution for project monitoring and evaluation.
The proposed dashboard will facilitate training for commissioners, permanent secretaries, project coordinators, accountants, procurement officers, and monitoring and evaluation officers involved in various projects. This capacity-building initiative aims to equip stakeholders with the necessary skills to effectively utilize the dashboard and improve project delivery. The training will enable participants to navigate the system, track project progress, and identify areas for improvement.
Representing the Permanent Secretary of OMDA, Saadatu Abdu Gusau, the Director of Coordination, Ado Hamza Suleman, called for stronger collaboration among donor agencies to improve development outcomes. Suleman emphasized the need for synergy and coordination among stakeholders to maximize the impact of development projects in the state. This call for collaboration highlights the importance of partnerships in achieving sustainable development goals.
The Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Information Technology Development Agency (ZITDA), Habib Abubakar Gajam, urged project coordinators to apply the knowledge acquired and adopt the strategies discussed to improve project delivery. Gajam's remarks underscored the significance of effective project management and the role of technology in enhancing transparency and accountability. The engagement meeting provided a platform for stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices in project implementation.
The meeting was attended by representatives of several programmes, including AGILE, ACReSAL, ANRiN, BHCPF, Cash Transfer, GEEP, HOPE-GOV, IMPACT, IFAD, NG-CARES, NFWP, RAAMP, L-PRES, SABER, SAPZ II, SOLID, SPIN, and ZACADEP. These programmes demonstrate the breadth of development initiatives underway in Zamfara State, and the need for effective coordination and monitoring to ensure successful project outcomes.
