The circular was addressed to top government officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, and heads of departments, agencies, and parastatals.
According to the government, the review of the salary structure was part of efforts to revitalize the healthcare system in the state. The salary increase is expected to boost the morale of health workers, improve their welfare, and provide a conducive working environment. For instance, health workers on grade levels 1-5 will receive N15,200 as hazard allowance, while their counterparts not directly involved in clinical duties will receive N14,250.
The government has urged health workers to reciprocate the gesture by rededicating themselves to their duties, improving their skills, and adhering to the code of conduct and ethics of the public service. The government also directed heads of departments, agencies, and parastatals to ensure that the new salary structure is implemented and communicated to all affected workers.
