The youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state, Abdullahi Sani Danazumi, has expressed disappointment that youths in the state are not receiving welfare packages from the government. He made this statement during an APC stakeholders meeting held at the Government House in Gusau on October 5, 2026. Danazumi highlighted the major challenges facing young people in the state, including a lack of welfare, support from the government, and worsening insecurity.

Danazumi also pointed out that the state government has not been conducting condolence visits during attacks, and that political appointees have not been assisting the people. Furthermore, he mentioned that workers have been suspended since the inception of the administration. According to Danazumi, the situation has become intolerable, stating "No welfare, no favour, support and security. No sympathy visit and appointees are not helping the people while workers were suspended since you became governor. It is enough sir."

In response to Danazumi's complaints, Governor Dauda Lawal acknowledged that his administration had focused on governance for the past three years and that it is now time to focus on politics. The governor stated that his administration has been working hard to ensure the well-being of the people, but it appears that some individuals have not benefited from their efforts. He challenged any commissioner who feels they have not benefited to resign, saying "There are some who complain that they have not gotten anything. That is not true. Even among the commissioners, anyone who feels he is not getting anything should resign."

Governor Lawal also addressed the issue of contract awards, admitting that the government made a mistake by not publicizing the names of those awarded contracts. He promised to publish the names soon, in an effort to promote transparency. The governor noted that some stakeholders, including Zannah, Mai Palace, Hon. Aminu Jaji, and Hon. Bello Hassan, have carried out various empowerment programs for the people and youths of the state.

Danazumi's criticism of the government highlights the challenges facing youths in Zamfara state, including unemployment, insecurity, and lack of support from the government. The APC youth leader's comments also underscore the need for the government to prioritize the welfare of its citizens, particularly the youth. The situation in Zamfara state is a reflection of the broader challenges facing many states in Nigeria.

Governor Lawal's response to Danazumi's complaints suggests that his administration is willing to listen to the concerns of its citizens and make adjustments accordingly. The governor's appeal for patience and call for an end to factional politics in the APC is a welcome development, as it may help to promote unity and stability within the party.

The issue of welfare packages and support for youths in Zamfara state is a critical one, and it is essential that the government takes concrete steps to address the challenges facing young people. By doing so, the government can help to promote economic growth, reduce insecurity, and improve the overall well-being of its citizens. The situation in Zamfara state serves as a reminder of the importance of effective governance and leadership.
