Thusi, who is in Grade 11 at Senzela Secondary School, received a prize of R2000 and a trophy for her victory. In the men's 10km race, Lungisani Nsele, 20, from Mndunduzeli, Nkandla, emerged victorious, also winning R2000. Nsele runs for the Themba Athletics Club. The event was organized by the Nkandla Municipality and supported by sponsors such as MTN, aQuelle, and KFC.
Thusi attributed her success to her dedication to training, stating that she has been running every day after school. Her goal is to one day participate in the Comrades Marathon, a prestigious long-distance running event in South Africa.
