The Yobe State Government of Nigeria is calling on global investors to explore opportunities in its 1.6 million hectares of arable land. This initiative aims to attract investment, create jobs, and promote sustainable economic development in the state. The state's investment and development agenda was presented at the 2026 United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Yobe State's delegation, led by Governor Mai Mala Buni, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Baba Malam Goje, engaged potential international partners in various sectors. These sectors include agriculture, renewable energy, mining, healthcare, and youth development. The state is promoting investment opportunities in soyabean, sesame, and livestock production.

The state has already made significant progress in the agricultural sector, with four completed sesame seed processing factories and a modern livestock hub. Additionally, Yobe is expanding and formalizing economic activities in various livestock markets, including Potiskum, Buni Yadi, Geidam, and Garin Alkali. The government is also promoting investment opportunities through public-private partnership arrangements.

The Yobe State Agency for Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion is serving as the coordinating window for investors. The state engaged Africa's leading industrialist, Aliko Dangote, at the Unstoppable Africa Forum on possible partnerships and investments. The objective is to move citizens beyond short-term interventions towards reliable economic independence and lasting financial resilience.

The delegation also participated in discussions with the United Nations Youth Office on opportunities for young people. These opportunities include funding, internships, professional networks, technology, and enterprise development. The engagement opened discussions on possible Yobe participation in the United Nations Youth Townhall in Heidelberg, Germany.

Furthermore, the Yobe delegation participated in the Accra Reset launch of A Sovereign Future for Health, alongside former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama. The engagement focused on African ownership of health systems, domestic financing, and stronger institutional capacity. This aligns with the state government's investments in healthcare infrastructure and service expansion.

The delegation also participated in an African Union-European Union dialogue on Youth, Peace, and Security. Discussions focused on the Bujumbura Outcomes, generational leadership, and meaningful youth participation in peacebuilding and governance. The state's efforts to engage global investors and promote sustainable economic development demonstrate its commitment to advancing its interests through global engagements.
