The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC) successfully conducted the 2026 Local Government Council elections across the state's 17 Local Government Areas. The results announced by the commission showed APC candidates emerging victorious in all 17 chairmanship contests. Some notable winners include Musa Kalan Dagona in Bade with 54,312 votes, Lawan Bukar in Bursari with 24,331 votes, and Bukar Adamu in Damaturu with 18,465 votes. Other winners include Abdulmumini Usaini in Fika with 61,326 votes and Alhaji Baba Goni Bade in Fune with 74,411 votes.
In addition to these results, Alhaji Mohammed Musa won Geidam with 35,832 votes, while Alhaji Dala Mala secured Gujba with 27,900 votes. Alhaji Dayyabu Ilu polled 35,999 votes to win Gulani, and Umaru Aguwa won Jakusko with 47,653 votes. The APC also won in Karasuwa, Machina, Nangere, and Nguru local government areas.
The commission's chairman, Dr. Yabani, stated that the successful completion of the exercise marked the conclusion of the electoral timeline. The results were formally announced after the completion of counting and collation processes. The peaceful conduct of the election was commended by the Yobe State Deputy Governor, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, who cast his vote at Polling Unit 008, Gubana Primary School.
