Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Yobe State, Barrister Kasim Gana Gaidam, has vowed to govern the state from Damaturu, the state capital, if elected in 2027. He made this promise while speaking with newsmen at the inauguration of members of the Unified Campaign Council and the official commissioning of the party’s new state secretariat in Damaturu. Gaidam emphasized that he would remain physically present in Yobe and ensure that his administration is accessible to the people across the state.
Gaidam stated that his campaign would prioritize youth participation, voter education, and awareness. He urged young people to actively participate in the electoral process and protect their votes. According to him, the party would ensure that young people served as polling agents and monitored election results from polling units through the collation process. This move aims to increase youth involvement in the electoral process.
The ADC candidate said his administration, if elected, would focus on implementing policies aimed at addressing economic challenges, education, and other issues affecting residents. He noted that the state government has an important role to play in translating federal policies into programs that directly benefit citizens. Gaidam emphasized that policies by themselves don’t stand and that state governments must work out implementation modalities.
Gaidam also mentioned that leadership by example would be a major principle of his administration. His blueprint would seek to awaken citizens’ consciousness of their rights. He criticized what he described as corruption and shortcomings in the country’s economic policies, saying the situation had created a need for alternative leadership.
Earlier, the state party leader of the ADC, Alhaji Adamu Maina Waziri, said the party had inaugurated a 57-member Unified Campaign Council to coordinate its campaigns for the 2027 elections. The council would design and coordinate campaigns for the presidential, governorship, senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly elections in Yobe State.
Waziri stated that the council would engage with ordinary Yobeans in their communities as part of efforts to mobilize support for the ADC ahead of the elections. He said the party was seeking political change through the 2027 elections, citing concerns over poverty, insecurity, hunger, and the rising cost of living.
Waziri also criticized the APC-led Federal Government over the rising cost of living, saying increased government revenue had not translated into a corresponding reduction in the cost of living. He alleged that corruption had contributed to the country’s economic difficulties and urged Nigerians to use the 2027 elections to elect new leaders.
