Yemen's Defense Advisor, Muhammad Al-Kamim, stated that Houthi militias have attempted to open new fronts in Taiz province, but have failed to achieve a strategic breakthrough. The militias tried to advance through the Sамиec area to reach supply lines, but were unsuccessful. Al-Kamim made these comments during a phone interview on Al-Qahera News.
The situation in western Yemen is escalating, with intense fighting on the western coast and in Taiz fronts. Houthi militias have suffered significant losses due to airstrikes, the resilience of Yemeni forces and popular resistance, and precision drone strikes. The militias are pushing large forces into the Taiz front, using ballistic missiles, drones, and intense firepower in an attempt to advance.
Houthi militias are trying to cut off supply lines between Taiz and Lahj province, and secure their positions on the western coast by controlling highlands extending from Jabal Kahbub to Al-Shamayteen, Ras Al-Mudra, and Ras Al-Arwa. However, these attempts have not achieved their strategic objectives so far. Al-Kamim emphasized that the militias' efforts to control these areas have been unsuccessful.
Yemeni forces and resistance fighters thwarted Houthi attempts to control several villages in the region on Thursday. The Houthis are using ballistic missiles, drones, and various weapons intensively in their attempt to achieve a military advance. Yemeni forces are countering these moves with support from popular resistance and precision airstrikes, which have halted Houthi advances on several fronts.
The region extending from Jabal Kahbub in Bab Al-Mandab to Al-Shamayteen, Ras Al-Mudra, and Ras Al-Arwa represents a single geographic unit. Houthi militias are seeking to divide and control the highlands in this area, but have not succeeded in achieving their strategic objectives so far. Al-Kamim highlighted the importance of this region in the conflict.
Yemeni forces have identified several communication centers linked to missile launches and Houthi command and control centers. These centers have become vulnerabilities after being detected and located. Precision airstrikes have targeted Houthi sites in Sana'a and Saada over the past two weeks, including command and control centers, leadership gatherings, and large weapons depots.
The airstrikes have also targeted large weapons depots in Saada province, including stores of guided anti-tank missiles, as well as command centers in Omran, Al-Jouf, Al-Bayda, and Marib provinces. Yemeni air forces and drones are playing a crucial role in targeting Houthi military capabilities. The advisor emphasized that these strikes are weakening the Houthis' military capabilities.
