The Cameroon International Tech Summit 2026 (CITS26) recently took place in Yaoundé, gathering government officials, investors, entrepreneurs, and young innovators to discuss Cameroon's digital future. As the summit's official Mobility Partner, Yango demonstrated how its technology platform can translate into earning opportunities and business growth for thousands of Cameroonian drivers and transport companies. With five years of local operations, Yango showcased its impact on the country's digital economy.

Yango's presence in Cameroon has been significant, with operations in Douala, Yaoundé, and Bafoussam since 2021. The platform has partnered with over 150 Cameroonian transport companies and offers four service categories: Eco, Comfort, Comfort+, and Moto. Yango has also provided free safety training and health check days for approximately 300 partner drivers in collaboration with the Douala and Yaoundé city councils.

During a fireside conversation at CITS26, Dr. Clovis Pilla, Country Manager of Yango Cameroon, explained the platform's model, which relies on digital infrastructure rather than owning or operating vehicles. This approach creates value locally, generating earnings for partner drivers, growth for fleet companies, and convenient services for residents. Yango's technology receives ride requests, matches them with available independent partners, and coordinates trips.

Yango's contribution to CITS26 went beyond showcasing its achievements, as the company also provided a practical pathway for attendees to become partner drivers or fleet partners. Dr. Pilla led a masterclass attended by over 50 participants, covering onboarding steps, required documentation, and profitability for independent drivers and fleet owners. The session addressed questions on regulatory requirements, such as vehicle registration, licenses, and insurance.

The fleet model offered by Yango has enabled Cameroonian entrepreneurs to build transport businesses that employ drivers and expand their fleets through the platform. Companies like YFLEET, Smart Express, and BestFleet Auto have been recognized for their success, and Yango's partnership with local institutions has promoted safety awareness and free health check days for partner drivers.

Yango's commitment to Cameroon's digital economy extends beyond its platform, with investments in the next generation of tech talent. The company has supported the Technovation Challenge in Cameroon, empowering 116 girls to develop app prototypes with mentorship. This initiative aligns with CITS26's focus on youth, technology, and innovation.

As Cameroon's digital economy continues to grow, Yango aims to maintain its role in turning technology into earnings, enterprise, and everyday convenience. The company's participation in CITS26 demonstrated its model for creating livelihoods and business opportunities, and it intends to keep making this link visible and accessible to new partners.
