The World Food Programme (WFP), the world's largest humanitarian agency, is seeking a Consultant Security expert to join its team in Uganda. The successful candidate will provide technical risk management expertise and guidance to enable informed decisions regarding risk management escalation. The WFP is committed to fighting hunger worldwide and works in over 80 countries to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry.
The Consultant Security expert will be responsible for coordinating the implementation of UNSMS and WFP security risk management strategies and providing direct support to security personnel at the Country Office and Field Offices. This will involve ensuring that divisional security evaluation, audit, and compliance recommendations are efficiently implemented across all facilities. The expert will also be responsible for reporting Quarterly Assurance Statements on time using the digital platform e-TREMP.
The WFP has a significant presence in Uganda, working to ensure that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, have access to nutritious food. The organization reaches over 80 million people with food assistance in 80 countries each year. In Uganda, the WFP works to provide food assistance to those in need, particularly in areas affected by conflict or natural disasters.
The Consultant Security expert will play a critical role in supporting the Country Office in developing crisis management plans, including crisis and business continuity planning. The expert will also provide direct operational support to Field Offices, including support with UNSMS implementation, risk mitigation measures, and compliance. This will involve working closely with security personnel and other stakeholders to ensure that security policies are implemented uniformly and effectively.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in security management and risk mitigation, with experience working in a similar role, preferably with a humanitarian organization. The expert will be required to provide technical advice and guidance to strengthen security management and crisis readiness and preparedness capacity at the Country Office and Field Offices.
The Consultant Security expert will be responsible for ensuring that safety and security considerations are a core component of WFP Uganda program activities and are adequately funded. The expert will also be required to initiate, conduct, and monitor the Security Risk Management process and other relevant requirements of the United Nations Security Risk Management System.
