A workshop organized by the Regional Department of Social Work, Childhood, and Family has started in the Mauritanian city of Azouerate. The advisor highlighted that child protection holds a special place in the program of Mauritanian President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. He noted that the government, led by Prime Minister Moktar Ould Ajaib, is working to translate this interest into action by strengthening legislative and institutional frameworks. This includes fulfilling international and regional commitments related to child protection as part of national efforts to preserve children's rights and promote their well-being.

The regional director highlighted that children's rights encompass a set of fundamental rights that guarantee a dignified and secure life. These rights provide conditions for balanced growth on physical, mental, psychological, and social levels. He cited the right to life, education, health, family, care, and protection as essential rights that must be respected.
The workshop was attended by the deputy president of the Tiris Zemmour region, the assistant governor of Azouerate district, and the assistant mayor of Azouerate municipality. The event aims to promote a culture of respect for children's rights and enhance collaboration among stakeholders to ensure their protection and well-being.
