A yet-to-be-identified female passenger was crushed to death by a truck after falling from a motorcycle on the Agbara-Lusada Expressway in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State. The incident occurred around 7 pm on Saturday at Cashier Bus Stop along the highway. According to an eyewitness, Kunle, the accident happened while the motorcycle was attempting to overtake the truck.
The spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the incident and provided details about the vehicles involved. The vehicles included a white Howo truck with registration number T-34611LA and two motorcycles whose registration numbers were not displayed. Akinbiyi stated that eyewitnesses reported the crash occurred when one of the motorcycle riders allegedly attempted to overtake wrongly.
Akinbiyi said that the wrong overtaking by the motorcycle rider led to the female passenger falling under the truck, which claimed her life. The accident, classified as a Road Traffic Accident (RTA) or Road Traffic Crash (RTC), involved five people: three males and two females. Two people, a male and a female, sustained injuries in the crash.
The injured victims were taken to a hospital by a good Samaritan before TRACE operatives arrived at the scene. Akinbiyi noted that the deceased's remains had been taken away by her family, while the truck was moved to police custody for further investigation. TRACE operatives and PAPA OSCAR responders attended to the incident and restored normal traffic flow along the expressway.
